Porsche 911 Speedster concept revealed and it is a blast from the past

Embodying the 70-year-old glory of Porsche’s first ever 356 roadster, the new Porsche 911 Speedster is an amalgam of decades of design and performance evolution.

Back on June 8, 1948, a wave of felicity struck the workshops of Porsche when the first ever Porsche 356 Roadster was awarded its operating permit. Porsche celebrated 70 years of Sports Car magnificence 2 days ago in Germany and revealed the brand new concept of the Porsche 911 speedster which is going to be more than just a memento from the past.

Designed to pay homage to the glorious Porsche 356 and 911 speedster models of the past, the new Porsche 911 speedster is going to be a complete package for Porsche’s lifelong fans. Similar to the preceding speedsters, Porsche 911 speedster concept also features a shortened windshield, tilted at a much steeper angle. The windshield leads to shorter side windows to match the design. A pair of streamliners is the most striking feature of the new Porsche 911 speedster located on the rear deck, which is made from special carbon fiber. The streamliners extend from behind the seats and sleeve the roller bars, exhibiting a splendor of Porsche ever-improving aerodynamics. Combined with the contrasting black slats, the streamliners offer catchy visual appeal as well as the additional aerodynamic element. A transparent Plexiglas is used in the wind deflector which has “70 years of Porsche” engraving etched on it.

Initially started in the form of a 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet, the Porsche 911 speedster has special carbon fiber reinforced plastic parts replacing the front trunk and its fenders. Paying a tribute to Porsche’s pioneering racing cars, Porsche 911 speedster has a dual tone Metallic White and GT silver colors painted on its body. The line up of blasts from the past does not stop on the aerodynamics and colors only as we further see classic exterior-mirrors which as Talbot-shaped, the front trunk lid having a fuel tank cap on it and the X shape engraved on the headlights. All of these traits were included in the early Lamborghini sports cars designs. On the rear veneer and B-Pillars, a gold-plated Speedster emblem further embellishes the model. To protect the interior of the convertible Porsche 911 speedster on parking condition, a tonneau top cover offers its services.

Weight reduction is the key aim around which the interior designing of Porsche 911 speedster revolves. The model has effectively eliminated AC system, navigation screen and the radio with an addition of CFRP framed seats. By following the Porsche world’s motto “less is more” Porsche 911 speedster also features Cognac Brown leather upholstery to reminiscence about the past models.

Speaking of suspension, it is adapted from the 911 GT3. Riding on Fuchs styled, 21-inch wheels Porsche 911 speedster also features wheel center locks. The Weissach based Porsche Motorsport Center has taken the responsibility of preparing the naturally aspirated engine which revs to 9000 rpm and generates over 500 hp.

Considering this blast from the past kind of concept, Porsche 911 speedster sure is a safe car for buyers to invest in for the future.
