The new beast from AMG is about to hit the UK showrooms with a bang. We first saw the new 604bhp Mercedes AMG E63 estate at this year’s Geneva motor show, which follows the salon version which was revealed at the LA motor show earlier.
The new AMG E63 will go on sale next month with the first deliveries expected to be around September. The new car comes in two variants standard E 63 4MATIC+ and the more potent E 63 S version with prices to start at £81,130 and £90,490 for the estate respectively.
The E 63 4MATIC+ come with the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 producing a very nice 563bhp and the ‘S’ model slightly more powerful at 604bhp. Both variants are an improvement over their predecessor but per Mercedes come back with better MPG, at 31MPG, due to a bit of weight savings and incorporation of cylinder deactivation technology.
The E63 Estate manages to get a 0 to 62mph time of 3.6 seconds, a 10th second, slower than the saloon which comes in 3.5 seconds. Given its versatility of having 640 litres of boot space with the seats up seems a small price to pay. The top speed is limited to the usual 155 mph but it is possible to turn off the limiter and reach a max speed of 186mph.
