The Electric Nio EP9 Lapped the Nurburgring in 6:45.9

The Electric Nio EP9 has been around for a while, and given its immense engine with 1342 Bhp, we knew it was going to be fast but not this fast. On Friday, it set a new record lap time on the Nurburgring of 6:45.9. This new record lifts the crown from the Lamborghini Huracan Performante. With a top speed of 194 mph the Nio EP9 is well within the realms of the supercars it shares its performance stats with.

The Nio EP9 doesn’t come cheap though at 1.49 million only those with the deepest of pockets can enjoy the all-electric car. This car marks the start of the electric revolution and we are sure there are going to be more to come especially from the other big players in the market.

The likes of McLaren’s P1 which offer hybrid technology are the beginnings of what may be the death of the combustion engine. Although the loss of the amazing sounds from the v12’s and so on might need to be replicated in some way but just recording it and playing it through speakers does not really cut the mustard.

Anyway, the Nio EP9 certainly looks the part and as a start is a pretty good option.
