Struggling automotive company GM killed the Pontiac brand just over six years ago but Trans AM worldwide has unveiled a new Trans AM 455 Super Duty at this year’s New York Auto Show. Based on the Chevrolet Camaro has been styled to echo the Trans AM brand from the 80’s.
The Florida Based tuner has not just focused on the looks with addition of new body panels and 20-inch wheels, Michelin Pilot Sport tires, but the engine and suspension have been uprated too. The upgraded LT1 V8 engine which has been bored out to displace 7.4-liters, and they didn’t stop there as they added a 2.3-liter Magnuson supercharger, a cold air intake, ceramic coated headers, and an upgraded exhaust system. These changes enable it to produce 1,000 hp (1,013 PS) and 1,046 lb-ft (1,416 Nm) of torque
The interior of the car has also been given the retro styling to match the exterior. Highlights include embroidered leather seats, a new shifter, and painted door panels. Drivers will also find special floor mats, “Trans Am 455 Super Duty” sill plates, and a revised instrument cluster.
An initial limited production run of 50 cars with sales are scheduled start on May 1st.
