Lotus has taken its already hardcore Exige to the next level with the New Lotus Exige Cup 380. Billed as the ‘most hardcore road-legal version of the Exige to date it is basically the sport 380 on even more steroids.
Lotus has reworked the body kit to provide an increase of 43% on the 380’s downforce, allowing the Lotus Exige Cup 380 to perform like it is on rails. The 0-60 time comes in at 3.4 seconds and it will reach a top speed of 175mph and yes it is road legal.
“The biggest surprise for many is that it’s fully road legal – a considerable achievement considering the car’s performance capabilities,” said Jean-Marc Gales, Lotus CEO. “Unlike some rivals’ cars, this is something that really can drive to a track, set the fastest lap and take the win, before heading home. It’s supremely usable, yet outrageously fast.”
Lotus will produce 60 cars making this a very collectable car for those who have the £83,000 to buy what is essentially a big boys toy.
The Lotus Exige Cup 380 is designed for those who love to tweak their cars and play around with the dynamics of the car. Standard equipment includes two-way adjustable Nitron dampers, adjustable Eibach anti-roll bars front and rear plus a new six-mode traction control in addition to the four ESP modes.
So for if your plan is to use this as a track day car the car has the mandatory steel roll cage and optional harnesses, an electrical cut-off, an extinguisher, an FIA spec roll cage and a non-airbag wheel to Make it fully race spec compliant.
